Finishing Settings

The milling tool in Primecut is capable of driving two spindle speed and feed settings on a machine; one for "normal cutting" (and roughing), and one for Finishing, which usually uses a higher spindle speed and/or lower feedrate to achieve a better surface finish on a final pass.

In Touchcut, the default mode is Normal cutting (M70), but Finishing settings can be activated via an M71 command. This command can be sent inside or ourtside of a process block ie, before the tool start or at any time within a milling pass.  Touchcut also reverts to Normal mode as soon as a tool off command is encountered.

In Primecut, milling tools have a pair of settings Activate Roughing Codes and Activate Finishing Codes allowing these to be configured.  Process parameters can be used within these codes if per process overrides are required for other machines.

Primecut will automatically activate Finishing Settings if a finishing depth pass has been defined (see Using a Finishing Depth Pass), or if Use Finishing Settings for All Passes has been checked.
