Importing from Primecut3

Importing Parts into Workorders from Primecut3 Part Files

Use this to import individual Primecut3 parts.  You must first have exported them from Primecut3 as type Part File (Right click on the part in Primecut3, select Export Part)

When editing a workorder or quote, or in Parts mode, select the open part button, and choose from the File Type Filter list in the Open Dialog Primecut Parts (*.prt, *.NEprt). Primecut3 exported parts have the .prt extension, PrimecutNE parts have the .NEPrt extension.

If the material name and thickness does not match a material and thickness in the PrimecutNE database, the new workorder item dialog may be displayed allowing you to select the correct PrimecutNE material and thickness.

You may also be prompted to remap any controllers and tooling referenced in the part file to the tooling of a controller already existing in your Primecut database.

Importing Parts into Workorders from Primecut3 Workspace Files

You can also import all parts in a Primecut3 workspace into a PrimecutNE workorder or quote.  As above, select the open part button, but this time choose from the File Type Filter list in the Open Dialog, Primecut3 Workspaces (*.wsp, *.wsz). All parts from will be imported, but Plates will not be loaded.  As above you may be prompted to select materials and thicknesses , and to map tooling.

NOTE Only 1 controller is supported during this import, as a Primecut3 workspace can only store parts and plates for a single controller (machine).

Importing Parts and Nested Plates from Primecut3 Workspace Files

If you want to load both parts and plates, then you must import the Primecut3 workspace in quote mode.   This is because PrimecutNE manages plates stock, and we need a reliable method of bringing the Primecut3 nests across without corrupting actual plate stock.  By loading as a quote, the primecut3 nests are imported onto Dummy Plates.  Subsequently you can "win" the quote, which converts it to a workorder, and allows the the dummy nests to be copied to stock plates, or for new stock or pre-order plates to be created as required.

To import Parts and Nested Plates from Primecut3:

1.From the home screen, enter quoting mode.  This form of workspace import requires you to be in quoting mode with no quotes open.

2.From the quote explorer tool bar choose the Import Primecut3 Workspace icon ImportPC3, then select the previously saved Primecut3 workspace (.wsz or .wsp)

3.You again may be asked to remap materials and thicknesses, as well as controllers and tooling.

4.If there were plates in the workspace, you can access these via the To Nesting button, however you must first set a customer to enable the button.

5.Go To Nesting and review the plates look correct.

6.Post the quote (this also saves it)

7.You can now Win the quote, and this will allow you to select how the dummy nests are to be handled.

Importing Primecut3 Controller Settings

NOTE In general, importing Primecut3 machine configurations is not recommended, as older Primecut3 machine postprocessors are not set up using Kinetic's modern conventions, such as using smartHPR rather than a generic plasma tool, or having a tool for each consumable configuration.

In the machine section, you can select the Import button, and after selecting the Primecut3 exported Postprocessor.pst or machines.ppr, you can decide whether to import the whole machine or to import selected tools into an existing controller.

Importing Primecut3 Costing Data (Process Data)

NOTE Primecut3 costing data is typically relatively incomplete in comparison to what Kinetic can provide for tools in PrimecutNE.  Unless there is a particularly custom set of Primecut3 costing data you wish to preserve this operation is generally not recommended.

Enter Process Data and press Import.  On the screen there will be a button to import all costing data (material, costids and processes) from Primecut.  Navigate the the Primecut3 costing data folder where the xml files are stored, usually C:\programdata\Kinetic\PrimeCut3\Costing.
