The Point shape builds a single point at an X and Y offset from the insert point. It has no length and no area, so it is not a profile or a part outline. Use it to mark one exact position on a drawing, such as a reference or construction point.
It appears in the shapes library under Basic Shapes and Primitives. This is the Point shape from the shapes library; for the Point drawing tool in the geometry editor see Point.
Insert point
The insert point is the origin of the shape. The point is placed at X and Y measured from the insert point. At the defaults, X 0 and Y 0, the point is on the insert point itself. The shape builds one point entity and no lines or arcs. No dimensions are drawn on the shape.

Limits
X and Y accept positive, negative and zero values. The property page sets only a minimum of -1e208 on each field (effectively no limit); no maximum is set. The property page does not show the "Warning: Cannot build shape from these parameters" bar that other shapes show, because it does not include the base shape page. The shape has no aliases (old names).
The Point shape's property page lists only X and Y. It does not show the Transform group (Base X, Base Y, Rotation, Scale, Mirroring X) or the Polar Array group, so these cannot be set from its property page. Its position is set by where it is placed plus the X and Y offsets.
