The Rectangle with 1 Filleted Corner is a rectangular plate with one corner rounded and the other three left square. Use it for brackets, end plates and blanks where only one corner needs a radius, for example for clearance or to match a mating part. The rounded corner is a quarter-circle arc that joins the two straight sides tangentially. (Formerly listed as "Filleted Rect 1"; searching for the old name still finds it.)
It appears in the shapes library under Rectangular Shapes.
Insert point and direction
The insert point is the bottom left corner of the rectangle, which is a square corner on the profile. The shape extends Width to the right (+X) and Height upward (+Y) from it. The fillet is always on the top left corner; to put it on a different corner, use Rotation or Mirroring X in the Transform properties.
The profile is a single closed path that starts at the insert point and runs clockwise: up the left edge, round the fillet, across the top, down the right edge and back along the bottom.
Properties
Property |
Description |
Default |
Width |
Overall size along X, measured between the left and right edges (mm or inch). |
75 mm (3 in) |
Height |
Overall size along Y, measured between the bottom and top edges (mm or inch). |
100 mm (4 in) |
Fillet R |
Radius of the fillet on the top left corner (mm or inch). The arc removes Fillet R from the top of the left edge and from the left end of the top edge. |
50 mm (2 in) |
Defaults follow the drawing units: the metric values above, or the inch values in brackets when working in inches.
Limits and errors
The shape does not check its values. Keep them within these limits yourself:
•Fillet R must be no more than Width and no more than Height. At Fillet R = Width the arc meets the top right corner and the top edge has no straight part; at Fillet R = Height the arc starts at the insert point and the left edge has no straight part. Above either value the outline doubles back on itself.
•A Fillet R of 0 gives a zero-length arc and a repeated vertex at the top left corner, so the outline is a plain rectangle. Use a plain rectangle shape instead.
•Width, Height and Fillet R should be positive. Negative values are not range-checked and are not a supported input.
•Cannot build shape: the outline and its dimensions are built inside an error trap. If the outline cannot be built, the shape has no outline and the property page shows the warning Cannot build shape from these parameters as a red bar. A failure while building the dimensions also shows the warning, but the outline is still built. No value of Width, Height or Fillet R is known to raise an error in the code, so this is not expected in normal use.
Every 2D shape also has the Transform properties (Base X, Base Y, Rotation, Scale, Mirroring X) and the Polar Array properties, listed after the shape's own properties.
