Using Discounts and Extra charges

Suppose that additional to the previous two parts, a customer wants 8 fishplates of a kind that he has had cut by you before, and wants them galvanized at a predetermined rate of $7 each. He has also sent you a rough sketch of a flange for connecting 100mm pipes, which he wants 6 of. You inform him that there will be a $10 programming charge for having to draw the part. You also intend to give him 15% off the total price, because it's his birthday.  

1Click Open Part from Database 4193 button. Under Part Name search for 'fishplate'. (Make sure All Customers is selected)

2Select it and click Use Database Revision, click OK.

3Double click on the Fishplate line item (main window) to edit it.

4Enter Number Required 8,click Extra Processing tab, click Add Process, select drop down menu for Additional work and select Galvanizing. Double click in the Per Part pricing value enter 7.

5Click OK. You should see 'Galvanizing' listed in the line item.

Usually you wouldn't do the work of making a shape if you weren't sure they were going to get it cut, you may instead use a sketch shape -see (see "Quick quoting with Sketch Parts". In this case we will assume that they are set on purchase.

If you like, take this opportunity to practice your geometry skills and skip to step 17 when you have made this shape.

7Click New 2D shape.

8Select the Flange shape and click Next.

9Enter the following details and click Finish.

10Under Name enter Custom Flange, and Number Required 6, Material GR250(A36), Thickness 5mm. Click OK.

11Click the geometry tab at the top of the screen.

12Click on the line tool.

13Type 'Y-90' then hold down Shift key. Click either side of the flange at the bottom to draw a horizontal line across it.

14Select the trim tool and trim the outer line segments.

15Press ESC and select one of the external lines.

16Press CTRL + J, ensure Allow Segment Reversing is ticked in the pop up window and press OK to join the path.  

17Double Click on our quote in the quotes explorer on the left.

Note you can either add a programming charge to the whole workorder in the top box, or you can add it to a line item as follows.  

Double Click on our Custom Flange line item. Under Line Charges > Programming Charge enter 10. Click OK.

18Under Discounts > Overall at the top of the screen, enter '15', to give an overall discount of 15%

19Under Charges > Freight enter '30'

20Select the parts on the left, and click the red and black Processing button above.

21 Process Closed Paths with Plasma (Best) and Circular Holes with Diameter <=20mm with a Spindle, making sure * is selected (Spindle ... button 2842)

22Accept all windows that pop up if any. Double click our Quote in the top left window.

23Click Recalculate at the bottom right.

24As you can see the Galvanizing charges and Overall discounts have been applied in the item charges category, and Freight costs added to job charges.

25Post the workorder

26Click the Hard Copy tab to see what details the customer will see.

This is just a default quote - not all kinetic customers want their customers to see smaller charges. You can commission Kinetic to make a different report, or make one yourself in Report Builder - see (see "Changing Report Paper Size" ) to get to the report editor.
