Notes on Using G-Codes:

Auto Material/Thickness

This addition to Primecut allows the material and thickness on the part to be automatically selected in Touchcut. Note: Third party software can also use this feature by putting the appropriate codes into the program. By doing this, the material and thickness will be selected automatically at the controller. Normally this is a task that is taken care of by the machine operator.

To enable the feature in PrimeCut 3:

1.Open the Controllers tab. A yellow rectangle with exclamation mark will appear initially, just click on it to view settings.

2.In the settings tree, locate Program General > Program Structure.

3.Below $BLOCK_INC_ABS_MODE$, create a space and then type M20. M20 is the code specifier for material/thickness. Right click to open the editing options window and select $MATERIAL$ followed by a – then $THICKNESS$ as shown below. Save controller.

A difficulty can arise where the grade names in the programming software do not exactly match the grade names in the controller, and there are two approaches to dealing with this.
