If a program does not contain a tool select then no cutting will be performed as the Null Tool is selected (M30 and M3 will be ignored). Tool selection involves a rapid of the old tool to its vertical home (away from work piece) and an implicit XY rapid to accommodate the tool offset. Tools are re-assignable depending on machine configuration; eg T1 may be gas on one machine and plasma on another.
When using the spindle, the tool specifier, eg T1(specifier), is used to identify which spindle tool is loaded in the taper. With other tools it is used to set the process. It will select Tool 1, and activate on the materials page the process denoted by Specifier if it is applicable to the material. For example, T1(200A O2 Air) selects a plasma tool (which is installed at tool position 1) and loads the materials settings for the process '200A O2 Air'. While the specifier is there, you will be unable to select another process on the Materials page.
In Touchcut Marking and other "surface processes" which are not thickness dependent are usually prefixed with "SURFACE", for example a marking process might be called "SURFACE ETCH 7A N2 N2".
Rarely Used - HD4070 two torch systems only: Use the form T<specifier> with systems where the process indicated by specifier can be run on more than one tool, and where you want to select the tool supporting the process, especially on two torch systems like the HD4070. It will lookup the process on the materials page and select the first tool it finds having the process set as active. If it cannot find the process it will select tool 0, laser, instead.
Rules for process names:
▪You cannot use brackets ( ) inside a tool name because TouchCut6 uses the brackets to indicate that the tool name has finished. If you do use brackets TouchCut7 will generate an error that indicates that the tool name is incorrect.
▪There is no practical limit for the number of characters in the process name.
▪Spaces in the process name will be ignored.
▪You do not need to match upper and lower case - TouchCut7 is not case sensitive.
