Import and Export of Process Data

Process data, including, materials and thicknesses, can be exported and imported. This is useful:

when setting up new data

when making large scale updates to costing data (see below)

Large Scale Updating of Costing Data

 

It can be time consuming to edit processing costings individually.  A case in point, if a manager decides to increase all cutting charges by 5%, there can be hundreds or thousands of records needing updating, depending on the number of processes, grades and thicknesses in use.  It becomes impractical to edit all these records one by one, and even if attempted it is difficult to know if some have been missed.  A better approach is to:

1.Export the data in question (usually Materials, Process Data or Spindle Costings) to a csv file

2.Open the exported data in a spreadsheet editor such as MS Excel.  Here data can be grouped, filtered, sorted, manipulated in powerful ways

3.Save the edited results (which may be a subset of the originally exported rows)

4.Import the data, ensuring that Duplicate Item Handling is set to Update Duplicates as shown below
