Logging in

When you launch Primecut, the following Login screen will appear.
The above is typical; the number of databases you are using may differ. The Tutorials database(s) are intended to let you explore Primecut without interfering with your production database.
Most customers will have only one server ("ZEUS3" is the server name above), some larger organizations may have multiple servers at different sites. The Primecut client will try to autodiscover Primecut license servers on its local network, but you can speed this up and ensure that your server is always at the top and selected by means of an in file serverLocation.ini, with contents similar to
[PC4 Server]
License Server=<your server name>
If the server version of Primecut has been updated, you will be notified here.
You will also be notified on this screen of the status of your software support contract, and whether Kinetic has released a newer version of Primecut than currently installed on your server.
Each database has its own list of users; Tutorials databases normally just use the administrator user with no password. This is not recommended for your production datastores.
Set Default This sets the selected server and datastore to be your defaults for the next login. Next time someone logs in on this computer, these will be shown first. These settings are stored in serverLocation.ini. If no local default datastore has been set (or if you set default on a selected server not a datastore) then the server defined default will be used (the server also has a concept of its default datastore). "[local default]" will be appended to a local default datastore.
Manage Sessions allows you to kill stuck sessions that may be preventing a login.
Help brings you here... of course.
