Once the parts are loaded into a quote (whether they are processed or not) you can click To Nesting to enter Quote Nesting Mode.
Here the parts can be nested into Quoting Dummy Plates- these plates are not stock plates but virtual plates only to be used for quoting purposes. Usually these are created on the fly from Plate Templates, however you can also browse your actual stock plate and quote using these; importantly however when a stock plate is selected, what is actually quoted on is a Quoting Dummy plate created as a copy of the stock plate. That stock plate is still available to be used for other jobs than the one you are quoting; you can Freeze the stock plate to prevent this happening.
A nest based quote has the following requirements:
•All Parts must be nested on Dummy Plates
•All Dummy Plates must be Processed
•All Parts on each Dummy Plate must be from the same single Quote, ie no mixing of parts from different quotes.
Each Plate has its own Properties which affect how its material usage is charged, grouped under the Costing category:
Charge Full Plate If checked, the full plate material will be used.
Setup Charge An additional Setup charge may be added for this plate for handling, for example.
Note The calculations assume that all parts will have material charged for when using nest based quoting. If Charge Material is false on some line items, these line items have their material charge and sell zeroed. This is an unusual configuration for nest based quoting however.
You can use MultiClone to quickly create multiple copies of a selected quote nest.
