Nest Based Quoting

If there is time, it is possible to get a more realistic quote for a customer by trialling what the nest will look like on existing stock plates and plate remnants.

1Open the Quotes module.

2Click the New Quote button new.

3Under the orange Customer field choose TutCustomer 1.

4Click the Import part button 3948 on the toolbar on the left hand side.

5Open QuoteNest.csv., click OK to accept on Part BOM Import window.

6If this tutorial has already been attempted, you will need to create New Revision of DB Part from File for each part.

7Pressing SHIFT and click on the top and bottom part in the list on the left to select all the parts.

8Right Click and click on Process Part machine laser 2 to process the geometry.

9Use Spindle for circular holes <= 20mm, and Plasma (Best) for Closed Paths, and Click OK. Allocate Spindle process if asked.

10Click the To Nest button 3949 top left.

11Click on the Plate Stock button plates  at the center left window. (Select the All materials option in the dropbox if no plate is visible)

12Select a blank 6000x2400mm plate from stock to copy and click Create Dummy button at the bottom right.

13If the Properties window isn't open when you select the plate.

1.Right click on the Dummy plate.

2.Click Show Properties.

3.Dock the window in the bottom left corner.

14Under Machine select Kinetic Machine and Click Apply.

15Click the Nest All button 2858 and Click DONE.

16Click the Back To Quote button 3586.

17Click Recalculate.

3588

18Change the field from Part Based to Nest+.

3589

19Note that Nest Based is more expensive, but also more realistic - Part based quoting doesn't take into account tool and plate changing time, and it only guesses at the full inefficiencies of the nest/Material usage.

20Post the Quote and Save.

21Click the Win/Create WO button 3582 to convert this quote into a workorder. The following dialog should open.

3590

22If the invoice number is not autogenerated enter INV - 445, otherwise remember the invoice number.

23Click Convert to Workorder.

24Click Yes to jump to workorder.

3591

We would now normally carry on editing the nest and not need to use the workorders module, until the workorder needs closing.

25Close the module.
