As can be seen in the calculation at the start of the line charges section all contributions to the line charge can be influenced by the discounts you have chosen to apply. The Machine Time Charge can be decreased by the Machine Time Discount, the Materials Charge by the Materials Discount and the Consumables Charge by the Cutting Costs Discount. These discounts are applied all items in the quote and are modified in the quote parameters window.

A global setting is available which switches the Discount percentages to Markup percentages. Note a negative discount is equivalent to a positive markup and vice versa, eg -20% discount is equivalent to a 20% markup.

Note Since 4.135 separate discounts can be used for different process types (cutting/drilling etc) (also enabled via a global setting)

Overall Discount is applied "additively" to the Machine, Material and Cutting Cost Discounts, not multiplicatively/sequentially. Thus a 50% overall discount and a 50% material discount will result in no material being charged. It is recommended to use EITHER Overall discounts OR the Machine Materials and Cutting Cost Discounts, not both together.

Overall Discount is applied to all costs in the quote except the Freight Charge. Care should be taken in creating quote report templates listing Programming Charge or Other Charges, as if an overall Discount (or Markup) is applied, if the report displays the raw database values of Programming Charge or Other Charges, then items will not correctly add to the quote total - see Quote Reports: How to show Charges

Machine Processing Markups

The discounts above are set per customer and per quote. Separately, each machine carries its own processing markups, held with the machine rather than the customer. They are edited in the machine settings under Controller > Costing Data, alongside Machine Cost Per Hr and Machine Charge Per Hr.

The markup is applied to the processing cost first, and the customer and quote discounts are then taken off the marked-up figure. A machine with a 10% Cutting Markup quoted to a customer with a 20% cutting discount therefore sells cutting at cost, plus 10%, less 20%.

Five markups are available, matching the five processing types:

•Cutting Markup

•Beveling Markup

•Drilling Markup

•Milling Markup

•Marking Markup

Beveling, Drilling, Milling and Marking each default to whatever Cutting Markup is set to, so a machine that wants one markup across all of its processing only needs the one figure. Those four stay hidden in the machine settings while they simply follow the Cutting Markup, and appear once any of them is given a different value, or when Global settings > Quoting > Display Settings > Show processing breakdown is checked.

Machine processing markups were not applied to quotes between 4.135.0 and 4.136.21. A quote priced in that window carries no machine markup. Opening such a quote shows a notice naming the machines that carry a markup; recalculating the quote prices it with the markup, and saving the quote clears the notice. When you first start this version, a similar notice lists the machines whose markups are being applied again, because their quoted processing prices will change.

The markup that moved a price is named in the quote analysis, which reports both the machine and the setting responsible.
